HCRN has always been about our volunteers and how we are best able to assist communities impacted by disaster. We have been blessed to have Kevin Cox leading our organization for 20 years. His drive to help those hurting and bring them back to a new normal inspires our staff and the communities here in Northern California. This year Cox was recognized by Lake County as Man of the Year for all the work HCRN has done in Middletown since the Valley Fire of 2015. We couldn’t be prouder of this award, and the recognition of all the hard work that has gone into the recovery of Lake County over the years.

The Stars of Lake County was started 22 years ago as a way to recognize members of the community who were doing their best to improve the lives of those in Lake County. Through the evening many wonderful stories of recipients brought the audience to tears. It was a special night, and a wonderful chance to recognize those who don’t always get that recognition in their day to day lives. HCRN was so happy to be in attendance and learn about some of the other organizations working in areas other than our own.

For Cox, winning Man of The Year feels just a bit off. He was honored by the award, but feels that the award should be dedicated to the rest of the HCRN team. Cox responded to winning saying:

Thank you all. I am very humbled. An award like this is a culmination of every volunteer, staff member, donor, partner and my family, especially my wife. Thank you all who give of yourself daily to be used of God. To Him all glory goes. Please be in continued prayer for our work here in California.

We at HCRN are so proud of Kevin Cox for receiving this award, and want to thank Lake County for embracing our staff and volunteers as we work towards full recovery from multiple fires since 2015. We love you Lake County, and every day of recovery means so much to us.
